4 Positive Trends at the End of the Age: The Nations

4 Positive Trends at the End of the Age: The Nations

Why Pray for 10 Days?

God governs through prayer.  To put it another way, when we pray according to His purposes, His Kingdom advances.  Over the next several weeks, we’ll be focusing some of the major items on God’s Agenda, four positive trends that are part of His "End of the Age" plan.  As we wrestle with these Scriptural promises, it’s our hope that you’ll be stirred to seek God as never before during 10 Days and beyond.

The Promise of a Harvest in the Nations

In Matthew 24:14, Jesus makes the following prediction: “The gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come".

Jesus explicitly links the second coming to the global proclamation of the gospel.  First, “all nations” need to hear, and then the end will come.  He’s very clear here—until the gospel is preached to every “ethne” which can also be translated “ethnic group” or “people group”, this “age” or era of history will continue.

According to joshuaproject.net, there are currently over 6,500 unreached people groups, numbering over 3 billion people.  In spite of incredible progress over the past 2,000 years, we still have a monumental task before us.  How can we begin to impact the lives of these people groups, most of whom we will never meet?

What’s Prayer got to do with it?

As Jesus says, "The Harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore, pray to the Lord of the Harvest to ekballo [thrust forth] laborers into His Harvest." (Matt. 9:37-38)  Mission begins in prayer!  The first step in reaching the unreached is prayer that God would thrust forth laborers to bring them the gospel.

God’s Agenda is the Nations

One of the major purposes of 10 Days is to call city-wide churches to unite in prayer for those who have never heard the gospel.  As we gather for 10 Days, we’re praying in an extraordinary way because we recognize there is an extraordinary task before us.  We’re in an unusual season of history where, with the grace of God, we can actually envision finishing the task of global evangelism in the next forty years.  We’re in the home-stretch and we can see the finish line—we need an extra push of extraordinary prayer to propel us into this great and final harvest!

Let the Prayer Go On!

10 Days, by its very nature, is an annual rhythm of prayer.  It’s our hope that 10 Days can be a catalyst to ongoing prayer in your community.  Inherit the Nations is a prayer initiative that seeks to mobilize prayer for unreached people groups year-round.  Prayerstrategists.net contains many initiatives focused on praying for the nations. We’d encourage you to check these sites out as you consider Jesus’ words, “The Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come.”
