Pentecost Report

We are truly living in remarkable times.

On the first day of Pentecost, 120 disciples prayed in unity for 10 Days. The Holy Spirit was poured out and 3,000 were saved. The seed of that first prayer meeting has now spread around the globe. Aided by the internet and the ubiquity of the English language, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, God's people around the world are uniting in prayer and seeing a great harvest emerge before our eyes.

While we are still getting reports and won't know much of how God has answered prayer, here are some of the details that we do know as of Tuesday morning.

  • At least three different, large church movements in the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, and China went all-in on the 10 Days Pentecost. The leaders of these movements are telling us there were tens of millions participating from over 150 nations.

  • One of our 10 Days mobilizers in a middle eastern nation has reported 270 separate 10 Days of Prayer gatherings, coupled with outreaches to their Muslim neighbors. This is up from 70 gatherings in that same nation last fall.

  • We are no longer able to accurately count groups doing 10 Days because it's multiplied beyond our direct relational networks.

  • 2BC (2 Billion Children) led an online 10 Days with people from many nations praying 24/7. Children were a major part of this cry of prayer from the nations.

  • The Global Day of Prayer for the Jewish World engaged millions in praying for the salvation of unbelieving Jews. The online expression featured anointed prayer for Jewish people to know their own Messiah.

  • I share this testimony with fear: While we were praying for the salvation of Israel (spiritually), one of the biggest enemies of Israel (naturally), the president of Iran who was involved in the Oct 7th attacks, died suddenly in a helicopter crash. While we were not asking God for this outcome, we know that He is a God of justice and "vengeance belongs to Him." As we pray more, we see more examples of God's justice against evildoers impacting the earth.

As I share this, I want to emphasize how this is God's work and not our human effort. This is not some kind of false humility--we really put very little effort into the 10 Days Pentecost as an organization. This has come about because God is stirring others around the globe to enter into times of extraordinary prayer, and collaborating around these two special times each year. That's really our dream, not to grow an organization or even a movement, but to see the church transformed through seasons of extraordinary prayer that are just a "normal" part of our calendar, like Christmas and Easter.

With the incredible challenges our world is facing and the unbelievable promises of God before us, we need more of God's presence in our lives and communities just to hold onto our faith. As we look forward to the fall 10 Days season, let's commit to make extraordinary prayer our new normal.
